Roastery Renovation Week 4: Patio Reveal & Pretty Progress
Share
Week four marked a significant milestone in our renovation journey as we finally removed the old bars and gates on the patio, reopening this beautiful space to the light and fresh air it deserves. Seeing the patio in its original form is a reminder of how special this building truly is, and we feel honoured to be part of its revival.
However, with safety regulations in mind, we realised the wall around the patio was a bit too low. To address this, we decided to top it off with some breeze blocks, adding a creative twist to tie in with the rest of our design. We integrated the beloved arch shape that has become such an integral part of our branding, blending modern touches with heritage details. These small considerations may seem minor, but they’re the little things that make a building feel uniquely connected to its purpose and identity.
Continued Staircase Construction
The work on our staircase continued this week, and we’re beginning to get a real sense of how this building looked back in its day. It’s an incredible feeling to witness this piece of history being restored, knowing that we're breathing new life into it for generations to come.
Pill-Shaped Tiles: A Match Made in Heaven
Another exciting development this week was the arrival of our stunning pill-shaped tiles. We could have sworn they were designed just for us! These beautiful tiles are being used to cover the bottom half of our coffee counter, creating a perfect balance between the reclaimed dark wood and the polished white tiles. The contrast is simply exquisite.
These tiles will also be used as the backsplash in our bathroom, showcasing a high-end detail that reflects the care and thought we’ve put into every inch of this space. Nothing here is an afterthought, and the addition of these tiles has truly elevated the look and feel of our roastery. They bring a modern, sleek finish that complements the darker wood tones and ties everything together.
Bespoke Backsplash in the Roastery
As for the roastery, our backsplash went in this week as well. We opted for a simple, white square tile to ensure nothing competes with our custom-branded Genio Roaster, which will soon take pride of place in the space. It’s a clean and minimalist choice that adds to the overall refined aesthetic we’re aiming for.
Lighting the Way Forward
Perhaps one of the most satisfying moments of the week was unboxing the beautiful lights we selected last week and watching them get installed. We removed the old fluorescent tubes and replaced them with the new fixtures, and wow—what a difference! The warm, inviting glow from these lights adds so much coziness and charm to the space, making it feel more like the welcoming, comfortable environment we want SadieCoffee to be known for.
Installing the lights was more than just a step toward completion—it was a realisation of our vision coming together. These fixtures contribute to the ambiance we’ve worked so hard to create, reflecting our core values of warmth, hospitality, and care for detail.
We can sense the finish line approaching, and we can't wait to welcome you into our new roastery!
